Autumn is officially here but if you’re in LA, you know that summer isn’t over just yet. In fact, this is a great time to be an Angeleno looking for the best date spots in LA. Tourists have gone, school’s back on, the weather is still great, and the city is ours again.

If you live like a local, you know that the best rooftop bars in LA are open year-round and continue to be a great place for ambiance, trendy vibes, delicious cocktails – and let’s not forget the best views in LA! From DTLA to the Arts District, Venice Beach to Malibu, whether you’re looking for city lights or Pacific Sunsets, we’re sharing some of the best date spots in LA – rooftops edition.

Perch LA

Rooftop bars come and go but Perch remains the go-to friend you can count on. Fairy lights, fire pits, lounge seating, they have a great Happy Hour and attract DTLA singles year-round. After dark on weekends, they often switch to live DJs for a great party ambiance. The tiered view of the city is fabulous and there are many nooks where you can retreat for a more intimate date drink. We like Perch for a date because it’s tried and tested and you know what to expect.

Bar Lis

Bar Lis is a bit of a best kept secret. It’s luxurious yet welcoming and there’s a good dash of retro cinema vibe. But the wow factor putting it on our best date spot list is definitely the unobstructed views of the Hollywood sign, the hills and also downtown LA. Another great Thomson Hotel lounge, the south of France vibe is only open a few days a week and requires reservations.

Hotel Erwin

This is a more casual, beachy spot where the sunset is the star of the show. Get there a bit early or reserve if you want a front row seat though as it can get crowded. The Erwin is a great place to start a date with a drink before dinner reservations nearby. Sharing a moment like that can relieve the stress of meeting someone for the the first time and create a shared experience going into dinner conversation.

Grandmasters Recorders

New to the LA scene and set in a historic recording studio, Grandmasters is great with a younger, edgier clientele and vibe -it’s a good way to show that you can roll with the best of them. The drinks are plenty and to-the-minute and the view of the Hollywood Hills and Capitol Records are amazing. Probably a good stop on the way back from a concert to prolong a date while keeping with a music theme.

Calabra

Dating on the Westside has lots of options and with its luxurious Mediterranean vibe and poolside lounge, Calabra is up there on our list. Close enough to the Santa Monica Pier for a stroll but tucked atop the trendy strip, this is a great choice for an upscale date where chic and authentic style is topnotch.

Cara Cara

If you’re a foodie in LA, you know that anything Suzanne Goin from A.O.C touches is going to be astounding. There’s no doubt when you’re planning a date that a meal here will be great and only topped by the astounding all-round views of DTLA. Located atop the fantastic Proper Hotel, the combination of location, views, food, lush garden, and ambiance make this the one to beat.

Los Angeles is jam-packed with great places for a date but we find that having a meal or a drink on a beautiful rooftop really sets the mood and creates a shared experience to build upon. Chosen carefully, a rooftop bar can be a great way to make an impression on a first or second date.
