Rooftop Cinema – on almost every day
Rooftop Cinema is an al fresco rooftop movie venue where they play classic and newly-released movies almost every day. This unique outdoor cinematic experience is a great date option where you can watch a movie along with the most spectacular view of LA’s skyline. The movies start after the sun goes down and you and your partner can enjoy those amazing LA sunsets. In most of the venues, you can experience dinner and a movie with a complete food menu, a full bar, and of course classic movie snacks like popcorn and candy.
There are many locations around Los Angeles, my personal favorite is the Melrose Rooftop Theater because of their comfortable bean bag chairs! Highly recommend this date spot if you want to watch a classic movie under the stars with your partner to experience it with. With pre and post social atmosphere and often an intermission, rooftop Cinema also makes for an ok exception to our no to movies on a first date rule.
Picnic at Penmar Park – every Friday through September
If you’re looking for a lively date experience, grab your picnic blanket and check out Penmar Park every Friday from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm to enjoy live music. Located in Venice, Penmar Golf Park offers live music from July to September where you can enjoy your summer Fridays with a special someone. Free Jazz Concerts at LACMA – every Friday through September
Jazz at LACMA offers free, yes free concerts every Friday all throughout September! Seating is on a first come first served basis, or you can opt for a picnic – though you won’t see much of the band, but you can still hear it. If you and your partner want to experience live jazz music featuring big-hit artists, Jazz at LACMA is the place to be every summer Friday!
Float on a boat and watch a movie – weekends only
If an outdoor rooftop movie theater isn’t enough to spark your interest, watching a movie on the water will! This unique and impressive experience allows you to be on an electric mini boat on Castaic Lake, located an hour away from Los Angeles, watching all-time favorite movies. You can bring your own snacks and drinks and experience a movie on water because drive-in movies are overrated right? This is a unique experience to impress a date! Boat cinema operates on weekends only till September, make sure to check it out with a special someone.
Spend the day at the OC fair – from July 14- August 13
Spending the day at the OC fair is a great date idea to bond and share some laughs together. The 23-day run of the fair offers great (fried of course!) food, concerts, games, and exhibits to have an exceptional time with your partner. Taking a date to the fair is a chance to get out of your comfort zone, and experience child-like moments with your partner that will surely give you a memorable date night experience, just like the ones in the movies!
